Bill Hooker Corporate Secretary I have been a patron of the Centre since 1973 when I moved to Vancouver to attend UBC's Faculty of Law. My wife and daughter have also been patrons since that time and my daughter still does adult ballet, so we have been a long-term Dunbar Community Centre family. I think that I am now the longest serving member of the Board. After 32 years of teaching Business Law at BCIT, I retired in 2009 and along with the DCC Board, I also volunteer on the boards of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and the Rogue Folk Club as well as committee membership, representing the Community Centre, on the Citizens Advisory Committee of Coast Mental Health's Dunbar Apartments and the Masters Committee of B.C. Athletics. Even though I now live at UBC, I continue to enjoy my commitment to the Dunbar neighbourhood and the vital role that the Centre plays in supporting health, education, recreation and the arts in the community. André Ladouceur Vice President, Chair of Communications André joined the board in 2017 and is currently heading the Communications and Marketing end of things for the Dunbar Community Centre. André has been working in the digital marketing industry for over 14 years and has hands-on experience helping many local businesses and organizations with their online strategy. André believes community engagement, especially in a community like Dunbar, is a powerful avenue and is looking forward to helping the residents of Dunbar benefit from what we have to offer at the Dunbar Community Centre.

In her spare time, Vivian likes to spend quality time with her family and teach her golden retriever Ms. Pickles new tricks. She also tries to travel around the world as much as she can. Philippe Kruchten Director I am a Professor of Software Engineering at UBC. With my wife Sylvie and three children, we came to Canada in 1993, and moved in the Dunbar neighbourhood in 1996. We have been patrons of the DCC in many different activities since then with our children, and now our grandchildren also live in the neighbourhood. I joined the Board in 2020. Stanley Chiu Director I am a lawyer at Titan Law Corporation practising in the areas of immigration, company, and franchise law. I grew up in the Dunbar neighbourhood having attended St. George’s School as a boarder and returned to the area in 2015 after having lived in Ontario and the United Kingdom for a number of years. I have had the opportunity to work with various organizations around Vancouver including the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture, The BC Muslim Association, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Legal Aid BC, Access Pro Bono, and other local and international businesses. I am a proponent of environmental sustainability and serve as a director of a local company engaged in promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable products. It is a pleasure to contribute to the Dunbar Community Centre, where my family and I are patrons, and to the Dunbar community. |
