The Dunbar Community Centre Association is pleased to bring our community closer together with these annual special events. Please talk with our front desk staff for further information about any of these events.
EVENTS at the Dunbar Community Centre
WINTER LECTURE SERIES
In response to community requests for a local lecture series, in 2016 we initiated a partnership with Langara Community College and other local guest lecturers to bring to the Centre evening and afternoon lectures. Our current lecture series is presenting now, with Langara faculty members speaking on the theme Location, Location Location. You can register separately for each lecture; special rates for the full series and students.
EASTER EGG HUNT – APRIL
What could be more fun than an old-fashioned outdoor Easter egg hunt? This popular event brings the Easter Bunny to the community centre for some crafts, some fun, and an outdoor hunt. Our staff helps the bunny organize the hunt to ensure all the children have fun and go home with eggs and goodies!
SALMONBERRY DAYS FAIR – MAY
Mark your calendars for the last Sunday in May, as the Dunbar Community Centre Association hosts an old fashioned community fair to mark the culmination of Dunbar’s month long Salmonberry Days Festival. Young, old and in-between, there’s something for everyone each and every year. Entertainment, activities, games and refreshments for all! Please join us for a day of fun, friends and community!
HARVEST FESTIVAL – OCTOBER
Each year the staff, Board and our volunteers support the annual Dunbar Village Business Improvement Association’s annual street fair on Dunbar Street with activities, games of chance and prizes for the little ones.
DUNBAR HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR – NOVEMBER
Held the last Saturday in November, we invite you to come and see why Dunbar is known among craft fair aficionados as one of Vancouver’s best! Each year 140 amazing, hand-selected vendors fill the Centre with a wide variety of crafts and food products. Vendors are chosen to ensure a variety of products and wares deliver a wonderful shopping experience. There are free draws throughout the day for beautiful raffle prize baskets and lots of Christmas entertainment and light refreshments (for sale). Admission: $4.00 advance purchase (online or in person); $5.00 at the door; and free for kids under 12.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA – DECEMBER
Another popular event and a Christmas tradition for many families, it’s an annual sell-out. What could be more fun for the little ones than a fun, raucous breakfast that includes Santa, crafts and a tasty breakfast.
