Dunbar Youth Groups
After School Volunteers (14-18 yrs)
Dunbar Community Centre is looking for reliable youth volunteers to help oversee our Games Room after school. Volunteer shifts will be available M-F from 3:45-5:45pm. Shifts will be scheduled on a first-come first-serve basis, so register fast to pick your days first! Must be available to attend a mandatory orientation session on Wednesday, May 2nd, 3:45-4:45pm at Dunbar CC.

Special Events Youth Group (14-18 yrs)
The Special Events youth group will engage in local community events with support from the Community
Youth Worker. This Spring, we will collaborate on events including Youth Week and Salmonberry Days.
Meetings are held on Fridays from 4:30-5:30pm. Volunteer hours will be awarded at the last meeting.

Junior Youth Group (11-12 yrs)
The Junior Youth Group is a wonderful opportunity for young leaders to gain hands-on leadership experience in a community-based setting. This is a project-specific youth group; participants will learn goal setting and teamwork by working together on a group project. Meetings are held on Fridays from 2:00-3:30pm. Volunteer hours will be awarded at the last meeting.

Youth Volunteer Orientation (13-18 yrs)
This orientation session introduces new volunteers to our volunteering program. Learn about volunteer
requirements and current opportunities. Discover how volunteering can be a great way to develop personal
interests, learn new skills and gain experience working in the community. Please pre-register.

Day Camp Volunteer Orientation (16+ yrs)
Interested in volunteering for summer day camps? Join us for this mandatory volunteer training for all Dunbar summer day camp volunteers. Active participation is required as this orientation will include icebreaker activities. Please bring your July and August availability.

Shotokan Karate (13-18 yrs)
Covers basic techniques, forms and sparring. Call 604.880.1559 for more info. Beginners are welcome.
Additional black and brown belts-only practices are on Saturdays 10:30am-12:00pm. All levels welcome before grading. No class on May 19, May 21, June 16, and June 23.

Pre-Teen Night Trip to Cultus Lake Waterslides (10-12 yrs)
Head to the famous waterslides at Cultus Lake! Cost includes chartered bus transportation, water park admission and youth leader supervision. A waiver MUST be filled out in order to go on this out-trip. Forms are available at the Dunbar CC Front Office.

Home Learner Lunch Teen Club (12-18 yrs)
Let’s get together! Bring your own brown bag lunch and meet in the Games Room at Dunbar Community
Centre to eat, play games, meet and socialize with other home learners. The youth room is equipped with space to eat, plus a pool table, a Foosball table, a ping pong table, some lounging chairs and lots of sunlight! Our lunch club “host” will be Joanna Michal who grew up a homeschooler in Central New York and now lives in Vancouver with her husband and three children.
