BC has now entered phase 3 of the Province’s restart plan and with that comes some changes to return to some regularity at the community centre. Most notable, masks are no longer mandatory in the building but are still recommended indoors. We continue to take a gradual, thoughtful approach and thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate the changes. We look forward to seeing you at the centre soon!
We’re taking a trip down memory lane and digging up some photos of the DCC over the years. Do you have any photos of the Centre, or enjoying an activity at the Centre you would care to share with us? If so, we would love to see them and use them in a community project we are starting up. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
The DCCA is looking for volunteers to join its Seniors Advisory Committee
The population of seniors in the Dunbar community is growing, especially seniors who are living alone. Currently, seniors in this community are under-serviced. The seniors’ services at DCCA need to grow to provide for this important component of our society. Some of the support programs in the neighbourhood have been discontinued due to reduced funding over the years. The City of Vancouver’s Seniors’ Advisory Committee recently published an extensive research report on the substantial and negative impact of social isolation and loneliness amongst seniors. The research found that it is important to offer a wide variety of programs to encourage seniors to leave their isolation. The New Horizons for Seniors Program grant would allow DCCA to enhance the programming and the facilities for our important goal of providing a safe, rewarding and learning experience for local seniors.
If you are interested in joining, please fill out the application form below. We look forward to hearing from you!
