We invite you to join our upcoming workshop on Saturday, June 8th from 9am – 11am at the Dunbar Community Centre.
The Rapid Damage Assessment (RDA) course teaches advanced skills to identify unsafe conditions in wood frame, masonry and concrete construction caused by floods, earthquakes or windstorms. Individuals learn to assess damage to determine whether buildings can be occupied. We will use BC Housing’s course material.
The course is free of charge. There is an optional minimal charge of $8 to cover the cost of a manual. Those who cannot pay the $8 may borrow a manual for the duration of the course.
(Note: BC Housing charges $70 per person.)

Donation of clean fleece blankets please!
From Sylvie, a student at Lord Byng Secondary School:
On June 22, 2019 at 9 am, my friends and I will be volunteering at the Door is Open and we will be bringing care packages to give to all individuals who are coming to the soup kitchen for a nice, hot meal. We are hoping to purchase, portable blankets and some basic toiletries for them to use. In Vancouver, we are very privileged to have exactly everything and have access to all the services we desire. I would just like to share our many gifts through the time we are volunteering as well as the care packages we have prepared for them. We would really appreciate if you could donate fleece blankets that are portable, clean and without holes or monetary donations that we can use to purchase the necessary items. We will be picking them up, at the Dunbar Community Center, by the end of June 21, 2019 (Friday). We are grateful for any and all donations.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for inquiries about the donations. Thank you!
Thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, speakers, community vendors, performers, staff and guests who made this year’s Salmonberry Days such a success!

We are very excited to announce that the Merry McKentys will be playing at Salmonberry Days! Enjoy the rides, the Stong’s BBQ, and hopefully, the weather!
The Merry McKentys hail from Cortes Island, BC but are currently residents of the Dunbar neighbourhood. Their multi-part harmonies, foot-stomping fiddle tunes, and wholesome old-time family vibe have been enchanting audiences throughout the West Coast of Canada and the US. Their instrumentation is an ever-changing medley as fiddles, guitars, banjo, cello, accordion, and bass are swapped between musicians to accompany their diverse set of original songs, traditional Canadian & Irish fiddle tunes, and contemporary folk covers. They’ve performed and toured together extensively since the release of their first studio album in 2013; often sailing up and down the West Coast in their wooden ketch, playing at folk clubs, community dances, and music festivals on the Gulf & Discovery Islands.
